All has been not well between Miley Cyrus and her father, Billy Ray Cyrus. It all started after Miley’s parents decided to part ways. Despite her dad’s repeated attempts to contact Miley and make amends, the singer has been reportedly finding it difficult to reconcile. The 36-year-old Grammy winner recently opened up about her relationship with her parents. She has also addressed the rumours of being estranged from her father.
Miley Cyrus, who was the latest guest on David Letterman’s Netflix series, My Guest Needs No Introduction, spoke about the people who guided her and inspired her in life and career.
“Honestly, my mom is my hero. My father—I’m grateful for being able to watch him ahead of me. He’s almost given me this map. There is a map of what to do and what not to do. And he’s guided me on both,” she said.

The singer also explained how her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, always has a foot on the ground, both in real life and in nature. Noting that both her parents’ impact can’t be measured on the same scale, the Flowers singer shared that their upbringing had an impact on their kids.
“While her mom grew up in a loving home, her dad did not. My dad had a really rough childhood. And my childhood—I mean, we can go and talk about the hard times or the struggles—but I had food, I had love, I grew up in a beautiful big house, and my dad didn’t have that,” she said.
The comment came at a time when the Cyrus family dynamics have been making headlines, especially after Miley left out her father from her Grammy speech. Recently, Billy Ray shared a post on Instagram, recalling his old memories with his daughter. ”
“I’m incredibly proud of her. She’s a survivor and a true artist,” he wrote.
