Padmaavat Box Office Collection: Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Film Off to a Solid Start Overseas

Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmaavat saw the light of the day on January 25 amid huge uproars and protests from fringe outfits. And despite the threats, the viewers flocked to theaters and showered love on Bhansali's magnum opus.

While the film minted Rs 5 crores from the paid reviews a day before its official theatrical release, Bhansali's film has also set off to a rock solid start overseas. The film, starring Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor, in key roles, has been mired in controversies since its inception. Several Rajput fringe outfits including Karni Sena have accused Bhansali of distorting historical facts and presenting Rajput community in a bad light but the initial reviews of the film state that it only upholds the pride and dignity of the community. More so, while Deepika and Shahid's performance as Rani Padamavati and Maharawal Ratan Singh has impressed many, it's Ranveer's Khilji act that has got the town talking and impressed viewers the most.
