Priyanka Chopra, endearingly referred to as a global icon, has had her fair share of struggles. From facing rejections to establishing herself in an industry with no godfather and then moving to Hollywood, her journey has been a rollercoaster ride of emotions, struggles and hard work. There was a time when the actress faced mental health issues and could not deal with her emotions.
During her appearance on an episode of The Ranveer Show podcast, Priyanka Chopra opened up about the phase she went through after her father died. She said, “There were phases in my life, especially after my father passed away, when I didn’t know how to deal with it. I talked to myself about how I am feeling and how I will overcome it. I told myself to allow myself to feel it. It is okay to feel that way instead of feeling guilty about it.”
In the same conversation, Priyanka Chopra recalled when she was reintroducing herself to a different country despite being a successful actress in the Indian film industry. Admitting to feeling pressured, the diva noted that she was alone which took a toll on her mental health.
Moving forward, Priyanka Chopra also talked about how she overcame the issue, emphasising the need to confide in a family member or friends during such times. Advising that one must seek support, she continued, “I relied a lot on my friends at that point. Instead of dealing with it alone, I would seek out people who actually cared about me,” adding that “If you are feeling dark, it is important to not keep it to yourself. You have to find support. Find someone you can talk to. It doesn’t have to be a therapist only but your mother, a friend or someone else. But don’t do it alone.”
In terms of work, Priyanka Chopra is busy filming for Citadel Season 2, the second installment of her spy series wherein she will reprise her role as Nadia. Besides, she will also be seen in The Bluff. The Frank E Flowers directorial will see Priyanka essaying a former pirate who sets out to protect her family. She also has Heads Of State lined up in her kitty, alongside John Cena and Idris Elba.
Meanwhile, her Marathi production Paani is also set to arrive in theaters on October 18.
