Ranvir Shorey Says He'll Take Up 'Spot Boy' Job If Acting Offers Dry Up: 'I Can Work As a Labourer'
Ranvir Shorey candidly discusses his challenges in securing acting roles, revealing his willingness to take on any job, even manual labour, if opportunities dry up.

Actor Ranvir Shorey, a seasoned presence in Bollywood with a career spanning over three decades, recently opened up about the difficulties he’s been facing in securing acting roles. Despite his extensive experience and numerous accolades, Ranvir admitted that finding work has become increasingly challenging. This candid confession came during his appearance on the reality show Bigg Boss, where he remarked that had he been receiving consistent acting offers, he likely wouldn’t have participated in the show.

In a recent interview with Siddharth Kannan, Ranvir delved deeper into the topic, explaining how he’s struggled to repeatedly ask for jobs, a task made more difficult by the fact that he currently lacks a management team. He expressed his discomfort with continually seeking roles, noting that even when he musters the courage to ask, he often doesn’t receive the kind of work he desires.

Ranvir shared that he’s fully prepared to pivot to other forms of work if acting offers cease altogether. His love for filmmaking and music remains strong, and he stated that he would be content working in any capacity within these fields, even if it means doing manual labour or working as a ‘spot boy’ on a film set.

“Even when I express that I’m not getting acting offers, don’t take it in a pathetic sense. I can work as a labourer, I have no problems… I’ll do something else. I have enough experience in these fields to make a living one way or another. Even if I have to work as a spot boy on set, I’ll earn a living. And I will not feel bad about it,” he said.

Reflecting on a recent incident in the Bigg Boss house where fellow contestant Shivani Kumari asked about his profession, Ranvir expressed that he doesn’t hold it against younger generations for not being familiar with his career. “They’re all young, so I don’t blame them if they don’t know me,” he said, adding that he’s aware of his niche appeal and doesn’t expect mass recognition.

Ranvir also touched on his struggles with industry dynamics, suggesting that his insistence on timely payments might be a reason why he’s overlooked for roles. He admitted that this stance may have led some to perceive him as having a bad attitude, though he acknowledged that he could be wrong. Despite these challenges, Ranvir maintains a sense of self-awareness, recognizing his own limitations in networking and self-promotion.

Known for his roles in films like Bheja Fry, Khosla Ka Ghosla, and Honeymoon Travels Pvt Ltd, as well as his appearances in blockbusters like Ek Tha Tiger and Singh is Kinng, Ranvir Shorey remains a respected figure in the industry.
