Originally released in January 2003, ‘Tujhe Meri Kasam’ was debut film of Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia

Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia are one of the most loved couples in Bollywood. They made their debut with the romantic drama Tujhe Meri Kasam. And now to increase excitement among fans, the makers are all set to re-release the film on September 13, 2024. The news has left all their fans excited.  Originally released in January 2003, ‘Tujhe Meri Kasam’ was a huge success, enjoying over 100 days in theaters.

Excited about the re-release, Riteish Deshmukh shared,  “I’m overjoyed that ‘Tujhe Meri Kasam’ is coming back to theaters. This film was not just my debut but also the start of something beautiful in my life. It’s amazing to revisit those early days and share this special moment with our fans once again. See you on the 13th September”. Genelia Deshmukh mentioned, “I’m thrilled that ‘Tujhe Meri Kasam’ is returning to theaters! This film holds a very special place in my heart as it marked the beginning of my journey in the film industry and with Riteish. I’m so excited for fans to experience the magic of this love story all over again.”

This is a golden opportunity for fans to experience this romantic classic on the big screen once again. Since the film isn’t available on any OTT platform, the re-release promises a fresh and nostalgic viewing experience like no other. The film was directed by K. Vijaya Bhaskar and produced by Late Shri Ramoji Rao.

Recently, many films including Rockstar was re-released and they earned more than their original release time. News18 Showsha breaks down the trend, dissecting why re-releases are in vogue and how they benefit the exhibition sector and the film business along with film buffs. Producer and film business expert Girish Johar calls this “a gamble that’s paying off.” He says, “The first and foremost reason is the lack of new releases. Multiplexes have the space to run re-releases, and producers are keen to promote their previous films and go all out in promoting them if they have the funds.”

According to Johar, producers are playing on nostalgia, and it’s working. “Certain films have a lot of relatability, and some have iconic status in terms of their storytelling and music. Maine Pyar Kiya is celebrating 35 years of its release. This amps up the recall value too. People still want to watch these films because their memories are still etched in their minds. That’s why most of the re-released films are doing decently well,” he states
