Stree 2 is proving to be a box office juggernaut, showing impressive numbers in its first week of release. The film, directed by Amar Kaushik, raked in an estimated Rs 255.35 crore in India net over its first six days. On its seventh day, the film continued its strong run, adding another Rs 20 crore to its tally, bringing its total to a staggering Rs 275.35 crore in just seven days.
According to Sacnilk.com, Stree 2 maintained an overall 30.45 percent Hindi occupancy on Wednesday, August 21, 2024. With these figures, the film’s gross collection has comfortably crossed the Rs 300 crore mark, solidifying its status as one of the biggest hits of the year.
The success of Stree 2 is particularly noteworthy given the stiff competition it faced from other big releases. Akshay Kumar and Taapsee Pannu’s Khel Khel Mein and John Abraham’s Vedaa also hit theaters around the same time, but Stree 2 managed to carve out a significant share of the audience, largely due to high anticipation and positive word of mouth.
The film brings back Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor in their iconic roles, continuing the eerie tale of Chanderi, now threatened by a new terror, Sarkata. The townspeople once again rely on Stree for their salvation. Adding to the excitement, Stree 2 includes surprise cameos, most notably Varun Dhawan as Bhediya.
The film’s advance bookings set the tone for its success, with 3,92,000 tickets sold on day one at national multiplexes, surpassing some of the biggest Bollywood releases. The opening day occupancy rate of 75.09 percent was a clear indicator of the film’s strong pull at the box office.
Critically, Stree 2 has also received praise. News18 Showsha awarded the film a solid 3.5/5, highlighting the stellar performances of Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao. While some fans wished for more screen time for Shraddha, her action-packed scenes and Rajkummar’s versatile portrayal were among the film’s standout moments.
