Sunny Deol and Shah Rukh Khan had a famous feud on the sets of Yash Chopra’s Darr, post which they stopped talking to one another. While they recently reconciled and were seen hugging each other at Gadar 2’s success party, the two had gotten into a heated tiff back while filming together. Action director Tinu Verma recently recalled that Sunny Deol was so angry that he ripped his pants with his bare hands.
“Sunny said he (Shah Rukh Khan) can’t attack me from the front because I am a naval officer. Sunny was right in his logic. Shah Rukh said I am not Shakti Kapoor, Prem Chopra, Gulshan Grover that I will attack on the back,” Tinu recently said on a podcast and added that Shah Rukh Khan became stubborn and refused to budge.
“Shah Rukh Khan said, “I’m not Shakti Kapoor or Gulshan Grover who will attack with a knife from behind.” Sunny Deol was already angry, he tore his Pants in anger and I realized his power. The shoot was packed up and SRK was first to run away” – Darr Action Director Tinu Verma pic.twitter.com/qRczz3RKBS— Abhishek (@dksunnyfan) July 17, 2024
Tinu said, “Sunny got so angry eventually that he had his hands in his pocket, and he ripped his pants with his bare hands. Everybody was shocked. Shah Rukh was also there. And then pack-up was announced.” Both superstars didn’t speak to one another after this.
A few years ago, Sunny Deol was asked about this incident on Aap Ki Adaalat. He said, “I had a heated discussion with Yash Chopra regarding that scene. I tried explaining that I am a commando officer in the film. My character is an expert and fit, then how can this boy beat me easily? He can beat me if I can’t see him. If he can stab me while I am looking at him, then I won’t be called a commando. Soon, out of anger, I didn’t even realise that I had ripped my pants with my hands.” Sunny also dismissed claims that he stopped talking to Shah Rukh after this. “It’s not that I didn’t talk but I just cut myself off and I anyway don’t socialise much. So we never met, toh baat karne ki baat he nahi hai,” he said.
