Varun Dhawan Joins Sunny Deol Starrer Border 2, Shoot To Begin From November: Report

Varun Dhawan is currently one of the busiest actors. He has many films in his kitty and amid this, there is news coming in that the actor is all set to headline the much-anticipated sequel to the 1997 blockbuster Border. The film, titled “Border 2, will see Varun joining forces with Sunny Deol, who played a pivotal role in the original. Pinkvilla has reported that the film’s shoot is scheduled to commence in November 2024.

Pinkvilla has mentioned in its report that Varun Dhawan has signed on for Border 2 and the actor will headline the film along with Sunny Deol. “Border 2 is the biggest film of Indian Cinema in the making, and the team is making it even bigger with the casting by getting Varun Dhawan to play a major role in the tale with Sunny Deol,” revealed a source.

“Border franchise holds a special place in the heart of the audience, and the casting of Sunny Deol and Varun Dhawan in the sequel is sure to elevate the appeal even further,” the source added. Border 2 is slated to go on floors in November 2024. Varun is likely to join the shoot after the release of Baby John in December.

Earlier, Ayushmann Khurrana was supposed to be part of the film but then walked out. If a recent report is to be believed, Ayushmann was in talks with the makers of Border 2 for a long time now. Reportedly, he was offered to play the role of an army jawan in the movie. However, he has now backed out of the project because he wasn’t sure about being a part of an ensemble led by Sunny Deol.

Earlier, Sunny Deol announced the sequel of India’s biggest war film Border 2. He took to his social handle and dropped the video. In no time it went viral and fans were seen reacting to it. To note, Border was released on June 13, 1997. Today it marks 27 years. Taking to his Instagram handle, Sunny Deol shared a video in which we can hear his voice saying ‘27 saal pehle ek fauji ne vada kiya tha ki vo vapas aayega. Ussi vaade ko poora karne, hindustan ki mitti ko apna salaam kehne, aa raha hai.” The caption read, “Ek fauji apne 27 saal purane waade ko pura karne, aa raha hai phirse. India’s biggest war film, #Border2.”
