Veteran Marathi Actor Vijay Kadam Dies After Long Battle With Cancer
Vijay Kadam had been battling cancer for the past one and a half years.

Vijay Kadam, the veteran actor known for his roles in Marathi films and TV serials, passed away on Saturday morning after a long battle with cancer in Mumbai. He was 67. His death was confirmed by his friend and actor Jaywant Wadakar. Talking to the media, he said, “Vijay had been courageously fighting cancer. Initially, he recovered but his health eventually deteriorated over time.” Vijay Kadam had been battling cancer for the past one and a half years. The news of his demise has sent shock waves in the Marathi entertainment industry. He was survived by his wife and son. His last rites will be held this afternoon at the Andheri-Oshiwara crematorium.

He began his treatment for cancer in 2023 and underwent chemotherapy and a couple of surgeries. After that, he was recovering well but recently he suffered an acidity attack due to which his health deteriorated again.

Vijay Kadam was considered one of the most versatile actors in the Marathi film industry. He received a lot of appreciation for his comic roles in films like Chashme Bahaddar, Police Line and Halad Rusli Kunku Hasala. He also appeared in films like Tere Mere Sapne’, ‘Irsal Karti’, ‘De Danadan’, ‘De Dhadak Bedhadak’, and many more.

“Throughout his decades-long career, he worked on projects ranging from Marathi cinema to Hindi blockbusters. It is impossible to find another actor like him,” Jaywant added.

Vijay Kadam began his acting career with theatre in the 1980s and appeared in popular plays such as Tourtour, Viccha Majhi Puri Kara and Pappa Sanga Kunache.

Vijay Kadam’s ability to connect with people through his performances propelled him to stardom in the Marathi entertainment industry.

He last appeared in the Marathi TV series Ti Prat Aaliye, in which he played the role of Baburo Tandel. The show also featured Kunjika Kalvint, Shreyas Raje, Tejas Mahajan and Tanvi Kulkarni in pivotal roles.

Vijay Kadam’s demise has left a significant void in the Marathi film industry. His contributions to the field of art and cinema will be fondly remembered by his fans and peers alike.
