He joined Kangana Ranaut’s upcoming film Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi after actor Sonu Sood quit the project following a highly-publicised spat with Ranaut but Mohammad Zeeshan Ayyub says he had a good time working with her as she knew what she wanted.
Talking about being directed by Ranaut, he told Hindustan Times, “As a director, she had so much clarity about how to lead with shots. It was quite comfortable working with her because she knew what she wanted. It was easy for us in that shot span of time to deliver and create the character she wanted."
Notably, Ayyub has previously worked with Ranaut in Aanand L Rai’s Tanu Weds Manu films. On his role in Manikarnika, he said, “I didn’t have to prepare much as I am from NSD (National School of Drama) and have been a part of historical plays. But I learnt horse riding for this film. It was quite a quick session where they taught me how to manoeuvre a horse."
“Here I was just following Kangana’s directions. Her idea was that my character comes across as a normal man and not someone from a particular period," he added.
However, Ayyub says he doesn’t know much about the tiff between Ranaut and Krrish, which led to the latter abandoning the film midway. “I wasn’t a part of the film at that point. I was not there for very long part of the process and was there for a short period of time. I shot for six days, like Kangana called me and she wanted me to be a part of the film. I don’t know much whatever crucial thing might have happened between them she just called me and I had a fun working," he said.
