Bollywood actress Bhagyashree recently took the stage as the chief guest at the Mumbai Army Summit, a significant event aimed at raising awareness and promoting cancer screening. In her address, Bhagyashree opened up about a deeply personal experience, narrating her sister-in-law’s brave struggle with cancer during pregnancy.
“It was a challenging time for my family when my sister-in-law was diagnosed with cancer while being 8 months pregnant,” she said during her speech.
Reflecting on her sister-in-law’s resilience, Bhagyashree acknowledged her commendable strength during the difficult period, despite her death. “Witnessing the strength and resilience displayed by her during this difficult period was commendable but we couldn’t save her.”
Motivated by this experience, Bhagyashree dedicated herself to spreading awareness about cancer, leading to the inception of the ‘Arbuda’ initiative.
“And that was the reason why I have been working incessantly to spread more awareness about the deadly disease. Which is why I and Himalay ji have joined hands together and we have come up with this initiative called Arbuda a website that bridges the gap between the doctors overseas and patients in India,” she further said.
Arbuda is a website designed to link patients in India with leading oncologists in the USA. Serving as a vital bridge, the platform facilitates patients’ access to specialised medical guidance from esteemed professionals, ensuring the best possible care. Through this initiative, Bhagyashree aims to furnish comprehensive support and resources to cancer patients throughout India.
Bhagyashree is actively involved in promoting health awareness programmes, as seen by her recent participation in a thyroid awareness event organised by Hinduja Hospital. Sharing snapshots and a video from the event on her Instagram handle, she highlighted the importance of such initiatives in bridging the gap between medical experts and individuals seeking knowledge and support.
“Health awareness programs are the need for the day. It was an enthusiastic initiative by @hindujahospital. It’s been a significant endeavour on my part to push such programs that bring together doctors and patients. This one was specifically targeted towards raising awareness for thyroidism, a disorder that seems to be growing in numbers,” she wrote along with the post.
Bhagyashree made a cameo appearance in last year’s Salman Khan-starrer Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan. She also recently graced the stage as a guest judge on the dance reality show Dance Deewane 3. The actress celebrated her 55th birthday on February 23 in Mumbai. The event was attended by numerous celebrities including Madhuri Dixit, Nushrratt Bharuccha and Sanjay Kapoor.
