Mujhe abhi bhi yaad hai ki 3 Idiots mein Chatur ki casting karni thi toh we wanted a character who doesn’t know Hindi. Toh hum jitne bhi actors ko audition kar rahe the yaha pe, unhe Hindi toh aati thi par they had to behave as if they don’t know Hindi. Toh woh theek se nahi ho paa raha tha. Fir ye thought aaya ki why don’t we cast somebody from the USA. Woh Indian ho par waha pe paida hua ho. Unki base ajeeb dhang ki Hindi hoti hai. Toh waha pe humne audition kia tha toh that’s how Chatur came into this thing. Usse Hindi ekdum hi nahi aati thi. Mujhe abhi bhi yaad hai uska pahla auditon. Usko humne Munnabhai ke audition de diye. Fir usne Hindi seekhni shuru kar di and by the time he reached here usko Hindi aagayi thi,” he recalled.
As for Dunki, Rajkumar Hirani continued, “Even in this film, we have Anil Grover and Vikram Kocchar. When you see the film, you’ll realise how apt they are for the film. Aur woh real lagne Lage uss mahaul mein toh fir it’s always better.”
