The Indian women’s team has a big task ahead of themselves as they face high-flying Australian women in the series decider on Tuesday. The Aussies have recently been touring India while competing in all three formats of the game including a one-off Test, a three-match ODI series and another three-match T20I series. The Test match was won by the hosts while Australia whitewashed the Women in Blue 3-0 in ODIs. Both Australia and India have won one game each in the T20I series. India won the first game by nine wickets before losing the second one to Australia. They will now be looking to bag the third game, to seal a series victory over the Aussies.
India will play their T20I decider against Australia at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy on January 7. Having lost the opening game of the T20I series, Australia bounced back perfectly with a six-wicket victory in the second meeting. In that game, India were halted to 130 runs off some excellent bowling spells from Kim Garth, Annabel Sutherland and Georgia Wareham. In the next half, Ellyse Perry produced an unbeaten knock of 34 runs in 21 balls. She belted three boundaries and two sixes to seal a convincing win over the visitors. A second successive victory like this will see them secure the T20I series on Indian soil.
