Janhvi Kapoor Talks About Her South Debut With Jr NTR Starrer Devara: 'I Am Coming Closer To My Roots'
Devara also stars Janhvi Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan in pivotal roles. The film will unfold in two parts now.

Popular Bollywood actress Janhvi Kapoor is making waves in the Telugu film industry with her upcoming projects alongside RRR fame superstars Jr NTR and Ram Charan. Set to make her Telugu debut in the movie Devara alongside Jr NTR, directed by Kortala Siva, Kapoor’s venture into Tollywood has garnered significant attention. Additionally, she has been reportedly selected as the lead heroine for Ram Charan’s upcoming project, tentatively titled RC16, helmed by Buchi Babu. Ahead of her South debut, Janhvi Kapoor shared that she feels very happy because through this film she is only getting closer to her roots and learning Telugu.

Speaking with The Week, Janhvi Kapoor stated, “I never learned Telugu and it is something I am ashamed of. I can understand it phonetically, but I can’t speak it. Yes, it is one of my biggest regrets. This part of me had been dormant for a while. But the Devara team is very patient and helpful. They are working with such stalwarts and I am so grateful they are just a call away to help me with my lines.”

Speaking about the rumoured Ram Charan project she is part of, Janhvi quipped, “My father has gone and made some announcement, and I don’t know what he has said. It’s too early to talk about the other films. My father has definitely not spoken to me or my producers. I wish I belonged to a universe where you just shoot films, you didn’t have to announce, clarify or deny them.”

As earlier mentioned by the diva, her mother, legendary actress Sridevi started her south debut with Jr NTR’s grandfather – N.T Rama Rao.

Last year, the makers released the much-awaited teaser for the film. The video opens with a Jr. NTR fighting scene. He is seen dressed as a village man who is fighting with goons. The night scene does not show everyone’s face clearly, but it is surely an intense, gripping scene.

On January 1, Jr. NTR shared a poster. In the poster, the actor was seen standing on a boat in the middle of the sea. He kept an intense look on his face as he also sported a shirt with black pants.

Devara is set against the coastal lands and is helmed by Koratala Siva. The film marks Janhvi Kapoor’s debut in South films and her first-ever collaboration with Jr. NTR. Just like RRR, this Telugu movie will reportedly have high-octane action sequences that are expected to blow away the minds of the audience. As per reports, Devara is being made on a huge budget. The makers are reportedly spending a whopping Rs 140 crore on its VFX. The rumour mill is rife that the makers are also spending 33 percent of the movie’s original budget on special effects.
