Kunal Kemmu recently reminisced about his early days of courtship with his wife Soha Ali Khan, sharing anecdotes about the nerve-wracking experience of meeting her esteemed family members for the first time. Reflecting on the apprehension he felt upon meeting Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan and veteran actress Sharmila Tagore, Kunal offered candid insights into those memorable moments.
Speaking on Raj Shamani’s podcast, Kunal shared that when he watched one of Soha’s movies, he thought she could be his girlfriend, even though he felt “she was way out of his league." Recalling his first meeting with Soha’s family, he admitted, “It was an organic meeting and I was terrified." When asked whom he was most anxious to meet, the actor explained that one naturally feels more apprehensive about meeting the parents, particularly in her family, where everyone is a champion and superstar.
On meeting Saif Ali Khan for the first time, Kunal recalled, “The first time I met Saif Bhai was when we used to play pool at a friend’s place. He was with one of his friends, and our meeting happened while playing pool. The first thing he noticed was, ‘You’ve got good biceps.’ I remember he was the coolest person." He further mentioned that after a few competitive games, their conversations revolved around topics like fitness, travel, and more.
When recounting his meeting with Sharmila Tagore, Kunal shared, “The most intimidating part was meeting Amma, Soha’s mom. It was also pretty cool, but I felt intimidated anyway, even though she’s very sweet. I remember Amma didn’t make eye contact with me for the longest time. Her questions weren’t directed at me. Looking at a magazine, she asked, ‘So, what do you do?’ That was during our first meeting. In the second meeting, I finally got eye contact, and then we became comfortable. She loves to cook, I love to cook, so we had cooking sessions together and enjoyed meals together."
Soha Ali Khan and Kunal Kemmu tied the knot in 2015 after dating for several years. Their union was blessed with the arrival of their daughter, Inaaya Naumi, in 2017, marking a new chapter in their journey together.
On the work front, Kunal is set to appear in Krishna DK and Raj Nidimoru’s upcoming comedy-action film Go Goa Gone 2 alongside Saif Ali Khan and Radhika Madan. Additionally, he will also grace the screen in Rohit Shetty’s Golmaal 5.
