OMG 2 Director Slams CBFC for 'Hypocrisy' Over A Rating: 'Rocky Aur Rani Has Many Kissing Scenes...'

OMG 2 director Amit Rai slammed Central Board Of Film Certification (CBFC) for the A certificate given to his film. The filmmaker, who will releasing the Akshay Kumar and Pankaj Tripathi starrer on Netflix this weekend, opened up about the 27 cuts the film had to make based on the Censor Board order and called the certification committee ‘hypocrite’. He cited examples of a condom ad before Gadar 2 and the kissing scenes in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani while calling out the board.

Speaking with Hindustan Times, Amit said, “When I watched Gadar 2 in theatre, which is a U/A certificate film, a condom ad in which Kartik Aaryan asks a girl about her preferred condom flavour played before the film started. That can be shown? It is pure hypocrisy. I am not against any film, but didn’t Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani (2023) have so many kissing scenes? Was it okay for the kids to watch that?”

OMG 2 was releaed on the big screen with several cuts. The director was hoping to release the uncut version on OTT. He had assured fans the same last month as well. However, in the same interview, the director added that Netflix wasn’t ready to stream the uncut version.

“I don’t know what their apprehensions are. They (the streaming platform) will show the same version that the Censor Board passed. Ab ispe aur kya hi kar sakte hain? Saare desh ne chilla chilla ke bola par phir bhi Censor Board ko sunaayi nahin de raha, toh koi kuch nahin kar sakta,” he added.

OMG 2 is set to stream on Netflix starting October 8. The film revolves around sex education and keeps a young adult in the focus. The film opened to great reviews and did impressive business at the box office despite the A rating certificate.
