2023 was truly the year for Shah Rukh Khan. The actor who delivered consecutive blockbusters with Pathaan and Jawan collaborated for the first time with one of the best directors of the country Rajkumar Hirani. His film Dunki might have started slow at the box office but picked up pace afterwards. The film-maker recently opened up about Shah Rukh Khan as well as Aamir Khan with whom he directed films like 3 Idiots and PK.
Speaking with the entertainment portal PinkVilla, Rajkumar Hirani shared how Aamir and Shah Rukh are quite similar, “Similarities, both are hardworking. Both are very very committed to the jobs, both are very very committed to the films. Processes might be different so every actor will come with a different process of working. Somebody will be impromptu, somebody will put in a lot of effort in discussions earlier and all those kinda things.”
He added, “So styles might differ but I don’t think the commitment or integration to the project is any less or any different. Every actor will differ so I don’t think there are differences in that at all.”
In an exclusive chat with News18 Showsha, Dunki director Rajkumar Hirani reveals that Shah Rukh already saw the numbers coming and was sure that though the comedy-drama would win hearts, it wouldn’t rake the kind of figures that actioners like Jawan and Pathaan did.
Hirani says, “After doing two back-to-back action films, Shah Rukh was looking forward to Dunki. He was happy doing something like this. Shah Rukh is an intelligent man and was aware that people were following a trend and liking action films. He had always told me not to expect huge numbers at the box office initially. He knew it was a slow burner and the audience and family would eventually lap up to the film and start coming in. More than anyone, he was preparing me and that is what exactly happened. We have seen many families coming together to theaters to watch the film.”
Dunki features an ensemble cast, with colorful characters portrayed by exceptionally talented actors Boman Irani, Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal, Vikram Kochhar, and Anil Grover, along with Shah Rukh Khan.
