Sunny Deol came under fire after he was seen sharing a laugh with Vindu Dara Singh and others present at director Raj Kumar Kohli’s funeral. The filmmaker, who was also the father of actor Armaan Kohli, died on Saturday. Armaan’s friend and publicist Vijay Grover confirmed the news. The funeral took place later that evening and a special prayer meet was hosted on Sunday evening. Sunny Deol joined Shatrughan Sinha and Jackie Shroff, among others, at the prayer meet.
A video from the gathering was shared on Instagram by Voompla featuring Sunny Deol and Vindu Dara Singh which has not gone down well with social media users. In the video, the duo appeared to be leaving the prayer meet when they appeared to be sharing a joke and laughing together. Armaan Kohli was seen standing next to them. Social media users criticised the behaviour, dubbing Sunny and Vindu ‘shameless.’
“Shamelessness..laughing like this in front of deceased person’s son,” a comment read. “Laughing at a funeral So sad to see these pathetic attitudes,” added another. “How can these people laugh and engage in such behaviour at a prayer meet. Or may be I am missing sth,” a third comment read. “How disrespectful of them to laugh at a prayer meet,,,, shameful,” a fourth user said. “Is that a funeral or something else..??” a fifth user questioned.
Raj Kumar Kohli died on Saturday morning. The director had gone to take a shower in the morning and when he didn’t come out of the bath for some time, his son Armaan broke the door only to find his father collapsed on the floor. Raj was then rushed to a hospital and was later declared dead.
The director was known for several Bollywood movies including Dulla Bhatti (1966) and Lootera (1970) which starred starring Dara Singh and Nishi in the lead. Some of his other popular movies were Nagin, Jaani Dushman, Badle Ki Aag, Naukar Biwi Ka and Raaj Tilak.
