Suzuki, the Japanese automotive powerhouse, is set to steal the spotlight at the upcoming Tokyo Motor Show, scheduled between October 26 and November 5.
However, ahead of the official debut, Suzuki has unveiled the all-new Swift concept. This further hints at tha start of the production process. Having said that, the next-gen Swift might make its debut in 2024.
The next generation Swift may carry a familiar design language, but it’s loaded with impressive style enhancements. While the current-gen Swift boasts a sleek look, the new Swift adds a sportier touch with a dynamic character line that gracefully runs along its entire exterior. The hood has received a substantial makeover, with the character line seamlessly blending into it. Suzuki has also given the front end a facelift with a redesigned grille and a sleek silver finish on the front chin. Notably, the iconic Suzuki logo, traditionally located within the front grille, now takes pride of place just above it.
Talking about the rear end, Suzuki has given the bumper a fresh design, with the distinct character line continuing above the revamped tail lamps. Moreover, the next-gen Swift flaunts a revamped alloy wheel design, adding to its allure.
Inside the 2024 Swift, the familiar dashboard design mirrors that of the Fronx and the Vitara Brezza, flaunting a sophisticated black and grey color scheme. This new Swift also inherits switchgear from the Fronx and the Vitara Brezza, including the 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, the steering wheel, and the toggle switches for the HVAC controls.
While Suzuki remains tight-lipped about engine and transmission options for the new Swift, it promises a “high-efficiency engine that will strike a balance between driving performance and fuel efficiency.”
In the Indian market, the current-gen Swift features a 1.2-litre, four-cylinder engine, churning out 90 bhp and 113 Nm of torque, coupled with either a 5-speed manual transmission or a 5-speed AMT. It’s worth noting that the India-spec Swift offers both petrol and CNG variants.
Suzuki has confirmed that the 2024 Swift will come equipped with enhanced safety technology, including Dual Sensor Brake Support, collision-mitigating braking, an Adaptive High Beam System, and a Driver Monitoring System. However, details about additional safety features are still under wraps.
As we eagerly await its official debut at the Tokyo Motor Show, all signs point to the next-gen Swift hitting Indian roads in the not-so-distant future.
Going head-to-head with formidable rivals like the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and the Tata Tiago, the Swift has held a special place in the hearts of Indian car buyers since its initial launch in 2005.
