Jasprit Bumrah has resumed training after a short break post-World Cup. The ace Indian pacer has opted out of the white-ball leg of the South African tour and will join the side in the Rainbow Nation later this month for two Tests, starting December 26 – Boxing Day. It would be his first Test series since leading Team India against England in the rescheduled Test in July 2022.

As Bumrah shifts his focus to the red-ball format, the right-arm shared a video of him sweating it out in the nets. The 30-year-old could be seen bowling full throttle to KL Rahul, who will head to South Africa ahead of the ODIs to lead the team in a 3-match series.

“Back at it,” the caption of the video read.

This has been Bumrah’s first break from international cricket since making his comeback in August earlier this year. Before that, a back injury made him miss out on some major cricketing events including the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 and the World Test Championship final against Australia.

But the right-arm quick made an impactful return, leading a second-string side on the Ireland tour. He had a terrific run in the recently concluded ICC ODI World Cup, picking up 20 wickets in 11 games and averaging 18.65. He was the pick of the bowlers in the grand finale against Australia, scalping 2 wickets before a sublime knock from Travis Head thumped the hosts.

South Africa – a paradise for Bumrah

Bumrah will be back to the place where he made his Test debut back in 2018. It was a memorable tour for him as he picked up 14 wickets in three games, including a five-wicket haul. His next tour to the Rainbow Nation was no less impressive as he bagged 12 wickets in three games including a 5-wicket haul. However, India lost the series 1-2.
