En Route South Africa: Team India Takes off to Lock Horns With the Proteas - WATCH

After defeating Australia 4-1 at home, the Indian cricket team has left for South Africa in the wee hours of Wednesday. The tour begins on December 10 with a 3-match T20I series, followed by as many ODI and a couple of Test matches. Since the likes of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have been rested for the white-ball assignments, Suryakumar Yadav will lead the team in the T20Is while KL Rahul will step into the captain’s shoes for the second time in ODIs in the Rainbow Nation.

Meanwhile, Rinku Singh shared a picture from the flight to South Africa. He could be seen sharing the frame with fielding coach T Dilip and teammates Arshdeep Singh, Tilak Varma and Kuldeep Yadav.

News agency PTI also shared a video on Wednesday morning in which the members of the Indian cricket team could be seen arriving at the Bengaluru airport.

India tour of South Africa

India will begin their South African tour with a 3-match T20I series on December 10 at the Kingsmead Stadium. The second encounter will be held at the St George’s Oval on December 12. The third and final match will be played on December 14 at the Wanderers Stadium.

The teams will shift focus to the 50-over format as the ODI series begins on December 17 at the Wanderers Stadium. The second will be played on December 19 at St George’s Park, Gqeberha while the final match will take place at Boland Park in Paarl on December 21.

The seniors will be back for the red-ball series, starting December 26 – the Boxing Day Test which will be played at Centurion. The last game of the tour – the second Test – will get underway on January 23 in Cape Town.
