'If Men Menstruated..': Woman's Take on Corporates Mandating Menstrual Leaves Gets Slammed
'X' user's take on corporates mandating menstrual leaves sparks anger among people. Here is what she said.

The concept of ‘menstrual leaves’ has always been a topic of discussion. Often, it has left the internet divided. While many support the decision and understand as to why it is important, there are people who do not realise the depth of the matter. There have been times when women came forth and expressed their displeasure over the matter. Now, ‘X’ user Pooja Sanwal took to the micro blogging site and shared her two bits on the same. However, many people were left offended by her opinion and slammed her for the same.

Pooja mentioned how corporates would mandate 2-3 days of paid menstrual leave every month if it was men who menstruated instead of women. The post went viral immediately and has 1 million views as of now. However, her opinion did not sit well with most people. Here is the tweet:

While most people agreed that menstrual leaves should be mandated, not many agreed with how Pooja expressed her opinion. “The first large company to introduce period leaves in India was Zomato with a male CEO. Wonder why companies with a woman at the helm didn’t do it earlier. If women built those corporates would things be different? We don’t know,” questioned an ‘X’ user. Another person wrote, “I think companies should just allow men and women to take leaves when they’re not feeling well, without having to justify what the cause of not feeling well is or have specific quota of leaves for specific reasons. (Of course, if you get diagnosed with longer duration illnesses like dengue, covid, etc you can share that, I’m talking about adhoc leaves like headache, periods, stomach ache, etc).”
