The Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday went on the offensive over a viral controversial video of a Trinamool MP’s mimicry of Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar. The ruling party also launched a scathing attack on opposition leaders’ show of support for such an act.

The saffron party demanded a formal apology from the opposition and said that the INDIA bloc takes pleasure in insulting people who come from backward and humble backgrounds and hold constitutional positions.

The BJP pushback came after the Opposition continued to protest demanding a statement by union home minister Amit Shah in the Parliament over the Lok Sabha security breach.

7. “Imagine what must be going through my heart when your senior leader videographs a Member of Parliament mocking the institution of the chairman,” the VP said while addressing the upper house of the parliament.
8. Congress leader Acharya Pramod Krishnam also came out in support of Dhankar and demanded that those who stage such drama should be immediately expelled.
9. Union Minister Kiren Rijiju also hit out at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for “filming and cheering the contemptible act.”
