The Muslim Students Organisation of India (MSO) has “condemned the violence” and said it is deeply concerned on the attacks on “innocent civilians”. The group has also demanded that taking women and children “hostage” should be stopped.
In a statement, the organisation said: “We underline that act of violence and associated escalations will not benefit anymore, and call on parties to act with restraint and avoid impulsive steps.”
The organisation also said that MSO believes that “there is a need for dialogue and for negotiations” among the two states and “condemned recent attack by Hamas, on innocent civilians”. The group also mentioned that “Islam never allowed such barbaric and inhumane act”.
The group, however, said that “the Palestinian explosion that occurred is a result of the continued Israeli occupation’s assault on Al-Aqsa Mosque and the annexation of Palestinian lands and provocation of Palestinian sentiments”.
The organisation has also asked students and Youth of India, to keep away from posting sensitive and dangerous content on social media that create communal tension.
The Palestine Conflict
All hell broke loose after Palestinian militant group Hamas infiltrated into Israel from all directions last Saturday and begun what it called ‘Operation Al Aqsa Flood’ against the country.
The surprise attack or incursion by Hamas has snowballed into a major escalation, with Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu officially declaring “war”.
Despite restricting and controlling various checkpoints with the Hamas-led Gaza Strip, the militias and military wing of the group managed to cross over and bombard various Israeli cities on Saturday.
Many purported videos on the internet show that Hamas entered Israel in vehicles like pickup trucks, boats, and even with motorised paragliders to breach the security barrier and attack Israeli towns, residents, and military posts.
Death Toll in Israel-Palestine Conflict
So far, the death toll in the Israel-Hamas conflict has led to the deaths of thousands of people, including dozens of foreign nationals and a few journalists. While an accurate figure of casualties would be impossible to find at this point amid chaos and horrifying violence in both sides, Israel’s latest media reports say that 1,300 Israelis have been killed in the war, while the death toll in Gaza has also reportedly risen to 1,200. In addition, the Israeli military had claimed that it has recovered bodies of 1,500 Hamas terrorists, taking the total death toll to 4,000.
