The Maharashtra government on Friday declared a public holiday on January 22 for the consecration of Lord Ram in Ayodhya.

WHAT WILL BE CLOSED?

  • All schools, colleges and government offices will be closed on January 22.
  • Central institutions, offices and industrial establisments will also remain closed.
  • Public sector banks, and insurance companies in the state will also observe a half day till 2:30 PM.

The Centre has already announced that all its offices, institutions, and industrial establishments throughout India will have a half-day holiday for the Ram temple ‘Pran Pratishtha (consecration) ceremony.

Meanwhile, the Rajasthan government has also declared a half-day on the consecration of Lord Ram in Ayodhya. According to the order issued by the General Administration Department, all government offices will stay shut till 2 pm on January 22.

Puducherry has also announced that January 22 would be a public holiday in the Union Territory. Puducherry Chief Minister N Rangasamy said that all state government offices, educational institutions, and undertakings would remain closed on January 22.

MAURITIUS GOVT GRANTS SPECIAL LEAVE

In a significant move, the Mauritian government has decided to grant a one-off special leave for two hours to public servants of the Hindu faith to attend prayers marking the landmark inauguration of Ram Temple in Ayodhya on January 22.

“Cabinet has agreed to the grant of a one-off special leave of two hours on Monday 22 January 2024 from 1400 hours to public officers of Hindu faith, subject to exigencies of service, in the context of the inauguration of the Ayodhya Ram Mandir in India, which is a landmark event as it symbolises the return of Lord Ram in Ayodhya,” the Mauritian Cabinet led by Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth said in a statement.
