South Africa picked up an emphatic win over holders England at the Wankhede on Saturday as the Proteas registered a 229-run win over the Englishmen in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 encounter.
The South Africans made a huge total of 399 runs thanks to Heinrich Klaasen, who made an incredible ton, and Marco Jansen and Reeza Hendricks who contributed to the Protea cause with well-made half-centuries.

Chasing the 400-run target, England succumbed under pressure as the top order and middle order collapsed. The tail-enders provided some entertainment for the crowd gathered at the Mumbai Stadium with some blazing boundaries and sixers, but it was too little too late as Mark Wood and Gus Atkinson’s innings amounted to nothing more than a consolation as the English were bundled out for 170 runs.

New Zealand opener Devon Conway, who has been in fine touch comes in fourth on the table with a cumulative total of 249 runs, while South Africa’s Quinton de Kock, who made just 4 runs against England on Saturday before getting out polishes off the top five run scorers at the showpiece event with a total of 233 runs under his belt.
Highest Wicket Takers:
New Zealand’s Mitchell Santner leads the tally for the bowlers with the most wickets as the Kiwi has scalped 11 batsmen at the ongoing event in India.
Sri Lankan bowler Dilshan Madhushanka, who also has 11 wickets to his name comes in second on the list.
Indian pacer par excellence Jasprit Bumrah, who has amassed 10 wickets to date at the ODI spectacle, stands third on the list and is followed by Kiwi Matt Henry, who has claimed the wicket of 9 players so far.
Pakistani pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi, who also has dismissed 9 batsmen, comes in fifth in the wicket-takers rankings.
