New Delhi: The CAG report on the 2G spectrum scam was tabled in the Parliament on Tuesday even as the opposition continued to demand a Joint Parliamentary Committee to probe the accusations against former Telecom Minister A Raja.
The Rajya Sabha was adjourned till 2:00 pm immediately after the report was tabled, while the Lok Sabha was adjourned till Thursday.
The CAG report will now be taken up by Public Accounts Committee headed by MM Joshi, which has members from other parties too.
The PAC will look at the findings of CAG, and if needed will summon people for questioning.
This morning, both Houses witnessed unruly scenes and both were adjourned for an hour before the report was tabled in the upper house.
CNN-IBN has learnt that there is enough evidence to initiate criminal proceedings against A Raja, who resigned as the telecom minister on Sunday night.
According to the annexures of the CAG report, there is more damning indictment of the telecom minister. The annexures point out how a favoured few, 13 applicants in all, had advance information about the cut-off date for application reduced in an arbitrary manner.
The details of changed cut-off date was posted on the website asking applicants to arrive with demand drafts worth crores of rupees within 45 minutes was also done at the behest of the telecom minister.
The annexures also have a comprehensive compilation of the first come first serve policy violations.
The Enforcement Directorate wants to quiz the former telecom minister in the 2G scam. The question now remains as to whether Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will give the sanction to prosecute Raja.
With the CBI probe floundering, the supreme court is now looking whether a citizen can be allowed to prosecute Raja.
The political face of the spectrum scam is out of the picture but what happens to the bureaucrats who made it happen.
The CBI had sought sanction to prosecute two DoT officials as well as Raja's PS R K Chandolia. The file has been gathering dust with the DoT for the past five months.
