New Delhi: A brief scare was caused in Parliament House on Wednesday afternoon after a lift developed a technical snag and stalled midway with seven people trapped inside.
Six Rajya Sabha officials and a lift operator were stuck inside the elevator for about an hour-and-a-half, a Parliament official said.
They were rescued safely after the lift door was opened manually. However, power supply to the lift was not disrupted, he said.
“Seven people were trapped in the lift number five near gate number 10 at the Parliament House,” fire official Mukesh Verma said.
“We had to manually open the lift door. There was no power cut in the lift. Fan and light were working properly. Everyone is safe and they don’t require any medical attention,” he added.
