75 TN MLAs have not filed I-T returns, says NGO
The report was prepared with the affidavits filed by the MLAs to the Election Commission.

Chennai: Seventy five of the 234 MLAs of the newly elected Tamil Nadu Assembly have declared in their affidavits that they have not filed their income tax returns, according to a Delhi-based NGO.

AIADMK tops the list with 42 legislators, while DMDK has 13, CPM nine, CPI seven, DMK two and one each from Congress and Puthiya Thamizhagam.

The report prepared by Delhi-based Association for Democratic Reforms, which was released to PTI, says 58 of these 75 MLAs have not given their PAN details to the Election Commission.

The report was prepared with the affidavits filed by the MLAs to the Election Commission.

The report that analysed 231 of the 234 MLAs' affidavits, who were elected to the new assembly, said legislator ST Chellapandian of AIADMK (elected from Tuticorin) had the highest assets of approximately Rs 5 crore. But he has not filed his I-T returns along with 74 others.

The affidavits of legislators R Kamaraj, M Muthuramalingam and D Haridoss - all from AIADMK, could not be analysed since the Election Commission's website did not have the information, the NGO said.

The report lists 11 legislators from the ruling AIADMK who have declared crores as assets but not have filed I-T returns.

Among those who have filed I-T returns, AIADMK legislator A Narayanan (elected from Nanguneri) has the maximum income at Rs 3, 62, 27,700, while DMK's chief M Karunanidhi (Thiruvarur) has income of Rs 2, 69, 65, 456, the report said.

The AIADMK-led front had won 200 of the 234 seats in the April 13 Tamil Nadu assembly polls.
