New Delhi: After Dilip Ghosh's 'Mamata for Bengali PM' pitch, another West Bengal BJP leader has stirred a controversy by advising workers not to harm members of Trinamool Congress (TMC) as they "weren't their opponents".

"Don't harm TMC party members otherwise a case would be filed against you. TMC isn't your opponent, police is. Instead of harming TMC workers, if you harm police then nothing will happen," Birbhum BJP general secretary Kalosona Mondal said, accusing police of being corrupt. They never save their friends, he added.

Last month, state BJP president Dilip Ghosh had accused police of lodging "false" cases against his party workers and threatened to "strip them of their uniforms".

"You have been registering false cases against our workers. A day will come when we will strip of your uniforms. We are noting everything down. We are also calculating the money which has been spent to fight such cases in courts. Once we come to power here we will find out all those officers who slapped false cases against us. They will have to pay us back from their own pockets," he had said.

Two days ago, the BJP state chief sparked a row by claiming that chief minister Mamata Banerjee was the "best choice" for PM post, if it was from West Bengal.

What's your reaction?
