New Delhi: A furious Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday evening spewed venom against Prime Minister Narendra Modi for misusing his official position by engaging CBI to conduct raid at the chief minister's office.
He said that CBI raid in his office is nothing but a political vendetta. "CBI is raiding my office; I was surprised when I came to know about it. Entire country knows AAP is running the most honest government in Delhi," he alleged.
Coming down heavily on CBI, he said, "I do not see any truth in the allegations levelled by CBI against my Principal Secretary Rajinder Kumar. If they really wanted to dig out dirt, then why CBI did not raid the education department, VAT department and IT department during Sheila Dikshit tenure. Why they only preferred to raid my office?"
"CBI is claiming that they have not raided my office and the raid was conducted to unearth a corruption case against Kumar. It is hard to believe. Rajinder to bahana hai, Kejriwal nisana hai (Putting Rajinder in front is an excuse, they are targeting me)," a visibly angry CM said.
Going a step further, he said, "If I find allegation of corruption against my son. I will get him arrested and put him behind bars. CBI's clarification is a blatant lie. It should have raided the education department and not my office. Why they have raided CM office when no old files are kept there? What was CBI's motive behind these raids? Why CBI did not raid officials and ministers involved during Sheila Dikshit's tenure."
While taking a dig at Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, he said, "Jaitley ji was the president of DDCA for many years and there was several corruption cases. Why CBI is not investigating those corruption cases? I have a strong feeling that the raid was conducted to save Jaitley ji because I was about to order a commission of enquiry against corruption cases in DDCA."
"They (CBI) had come to search for DDCA files which have Jaitley ji's name, as he had been president of DDCA and probe is on," he added.
Reacting over Kejriwal's allegation, Jaitley said, "I don't think I need to respond to rubbish."
On the context of using objectionable words against the PM, he said, "My choice of words could be wrong, but your (Modi) deeds are wrong. You (Modi) apologise for your deeds, I will apologise for my words."
