Centre sends reminder to West Bengal government on Tapas Pal's comments
Trinamool Congress had accepted Pal's unconditional apology as the party said that it believed that his letter was written in right spirit.

New Delhi: The Centre has sent a reminder to West Bengal government seeking a report over controversial comments allegedly made by Trinamool Congress-actor MP Tapas Pal where he was shown threatening to kill CPI(M) workers and have their women raped.

"We have sent a reminder to West Bengal government seeking a report on the comments made by the MP. The first such demand was made a week back. We have asked them to give complete information about his speech, where it was made, how many people were present and its repercussions," a Home Ministry official said.

The controversial remarks had triggered an outrage and condemnation and opposition parties demanded the Lok Sabha Speaker to take suo motu cognisance of Pal's outburst and disqualify him.

Trinamool Congress had accepted Pal's unconditional apology as the party said that it believed that his letter was written in right spirit. Pal had tendered the apology saying that in making such comments he has let down his constituents and the people of Bengal.

The video footage aired on television channels showed Pal threatening to kill CPI-M workers and deploy his boys to rape their women folk if a single Trinamool worker was attacked in his constituency.
