With the elevation of Rahul Gandhi imminent, the dissenters are coming out in the open. In a big blow to the Congress, veteran leader from Chhattisgarh, Ajit Jogi has publicly announced that he will form a new party.
Jogi said this is the only way to defeat Chief Minister Raman Singh. He claimed that the high command has ignored his repeated pleas.
"The Working Committee of the Congress has decided to expel Jogi. His statements against the party are doing harm to the party and it has been taken into consideration by the Working Committee. We will not tolerate anyone speaking against the party. We cannot comment on Ajit Jogi forming his new party," Chhattisgarh Congress general secretary Shailesh Nitin Trivedi.
Congress general secretary Digvijaya Singh also slammed Jogi and said, "Ajit Jogi sold himself for money, so he should better leave Congress."
