Delhi govt to raise LPG cap to 12 cylinders for poor
Last year, the Centre had put a cap on subsidised LPG cylinders at 6 barrells per annum, citing a huge subsidy bill.

New Delhi: The Sheila Dikshit government has decided to raise the cap on subsidised cooking gas cylinders from 9 to 12 barrells per annum. The move, however, will benefit only the BPL (below poverty line) card holders.

The decision was taken as part of the ‘Kerosene-free Delhi’ scheme.

Last year, the Centre had put a cap on subsidised LPG cylinders at 6 barrells per annum. The move offset the household budgets by quite a considerable margin. However, following popular discontent, the Delhi government had said it will raise the cap to allow BPL families to buy 9 subsidised cylinders.
