Ludhiana: Former Haryana chief minister and president of the Indian National Lok Dal Om Prakash Chautala on Wednesday came down heavily on the Election Commission (EC).
He alleged the EC of giving maximum help to the Congress party on the pretext of the imposition of model ‘Code of Conduct’.
Talking to the media persons on Wednesday evening, Chautala accused the EC of having ignored all its constitutional obligations.
On the issue of utterance of BJP candidate from Pilibhit Varun Gandhi, he said it was being blown out of proportion.
“We are a secular country, no body has the right to hurt the feelings of the people of other religions but in this case the language and tone being used by his (Varun's) critics is equally damaging. Why EC is silent over that", he added.
