Bangalore: "For them everything else is immaterial, they just want a Narendra Modi picture on it," says independent brand manager Vasanth. 'Keep calm and vote NaMo', saffron stoles for college goers, mobile stickers and all those things that attract an average urban youngster. This is what you will notice when you walk into Vasanth's store Namosthe in Bangalore's Malleswaram area. At Namosthe, there's BJP's Prime Ministerial Narendra Modi staring down at you from almost every corner and every wall.
You not only notice the flashy saffron t-shirts and the tri-colour BJP flag, unlike the regular campaign stalls, one can also find innovative merchandises like mobile stickers, photo frames and scarves. Vasanth is a strong believer of Modi and is driven by his thought that has made him start 'Namosthe' which is claims is India's first exclusive store for Modi merchadise. "Namosthe is an undiluted NaMo merchandise store," he says.
Narendra Modi known to be a strong contestant for the upcoming elections is now recognised to be a brand for many. Vasanth is one such follower of Modi's ideologies. Vasanth aims to woo youngsters and working professionals, probably why one can find even Modi sweatshirts and coffee mugs (or should we say chai ki pyalis).
Vasanth adds, "So you will have everything which relates to 'Namo', his ideologies, his thinking and his following".
Not just Vasanth, many online stores have also started cashing in on Brand Modi, selling quirky products. "Modi as a brand I think is really well placed and well projected,"says Vasanth.
However, Vasanth makes it clear that the store endorses only Brand Modi and not necessarily his party.
What makes his store stand out among the other regular party stores? "In other stores the idea is to sell the merchandise as it is a commodity for them. Here we have to carry the concept. That's what we are working on. At 'Namosthe' every t-shirt will carry a message," he says.
