Actor Prakash Raj on Thursday clarified that he would not be joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ahead of the much anticipated Lok Sabha elections.
Responding to the viral post, the actor sarcastically remarked, “I guess they tried must have realised they were not rich enough (ideologically) to buy me.. .. what do you think friends #justasking.”
The actor, known for his strong criticism of the ruling BJP-led government, shared a post by a user named ‘The Skin Doctor’, which claimed: “Eminent actor Prakash Raj will join BJP today at 3 pm.” The post quickly went viral on social media, leading many to speculate about his potential joining the party.

In January, the actor claimed that ‘three political parties’ have approached him to be their candidate in the upcoming elections. He emphasized that they are interested in him not for his ideology but because he is a critic of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “I don’t want to fall into that trap,” added the 58-year-old.
“Now, elections are coming, three political parties are behind me. I have switched off the phone… because I don’t want to get into the trap. They are not coming for the people, for my ideology, they say because ’I am a ’Modi basher’, you are a good candidate’,” stated the actor during an event in Kozhikode, Kerala.
The award-winning actor has worked in films such as “Kanchivaram,” “Singham,” and “Wanted.” In his political career, he ran as an Independent candidate from Bengaluru Central in the 2019 general elections but was unsuccessful.
