Indore: BJP on Thursday said opposition to Yoga amounted to "anti-national" and "anti-social" acts and those who are creating an unnecessary controversy over the issue cannot be well wishers of the country.
"Even Yoga has been accepted by United Nations and its opposition is outright unfair. If someone doesn't want to do Yoga, he should go to sleep at his house. But opposition to Yoga amounts to anti-national and anti-social acts," Madhya Pradesh BJP chief Nandkumar Singh Chauhan told reporters in Indore.
"World over it has been accepted that Yoga was a way to healthy life. But the people who are averse to Yoga and raking up an unnecessary controversy over it, are not having a bounding with India and can't be well wishers of the country," he added.
To a poser, Chauhan said, "Yoga was not the political agenda of BJP. With the United Nation's adoption, it (Yoga) has become a global agenda."
There was opposition from some minority groups including the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AMPLB) against compulsory yoga classes in schools.
