New Delhi: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh met President Prathibha Patil at the Rashtrapati Bhawan in New Delhi on Friday ahead of a proposed Cabinet reshuffle.

The meeting lasted 45 minutes and sources have told CNN-IBN the Prime Minister and the President discussed the current political situation in the country and the proposed Cabinet reshuffle.

The Cabinet reshuffle is likely to take place soon. The Monsoon Session of Parliament was also discussed.

"They also discussed various other issues of national and international importance," a Rashtrapati Bhawan spokesperson said in a statement.

The meeting comes two-day after Prime Minister had told a group of editors that a Cabinet reshuffle was in the offing saying it was work in progress.

Patil is going to Hyderabad tomorrow on a week-long sojourn and speculation persisted that the proposed reshuffle will take place after her return on July 8.
