Thiruvananthapuram: The Nooranadu Police have submitted a report to a Kerala court in the incident where Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi traveled on top of a moving police vehicle while taking part in a "Yuva Kerala yatra" Organised by state Youth Congress on January 13. The case is posted for hearing on February 28.
Advocate Mujeeb Rehman, state general secretary of Nationalist Youth Congress, the youth wing of NCP had filed a complaint stating that action should be taken against Rahul Gandhi and state Youth Congress President Dean Kuriakose under the motor vehicle Act and IPC section 427 for causing damage to the vehicle.
The report submitted by Nooranadau Sub Inspector stated that Rahul Gandhi was asked to travel on top of the vehicle due to security reasons. When he joined the rally, there was a huge rush of people including women and children to see him. He was asked by the SPG officials to be seated on top of the police vehicle to avoid a stampede or any other untoward incidents. The report also stated that there is no damage to the police vehicle as alleged by the complainant. Mr Rehman approached the Mavelikara judicial first class magistrate court- II as the Nooranadu police was not taking a case on his complaint.
