Rajasthan CM announces relief package for farmers after hailstorm
Affected farmers from 21 districts will get Rs 4,500 per hectare for non irrigated land and Rs 9,000 per hectare for irrigated land.

Jaipur: Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje on Friday announced a relief package for farmers hit by crop damage due to hailstorm over the past three days in the state. Affected farmers from 21 districts will get Rs 4,500 per hectare for non irrigated land and Rs 9,000 per hectare for irrigated land.

Crops in many districts of Rajasthan in Kota, Churu, Jhalawar, Karauli and Sri Ganganagar were damaged in the hailstorm. Hailstorm and rains in parts of Rajasthan also threw life out of gear with a sudden drop in temperatures.

While Churu recorded a maximum of 3 cm rainfall, in parts of southwestern and north Rajasthan, there was up to 70 per cent crop damage. The lowest temperatures dropped to 10 degree to 17 degree with the biggest drop in Mount Abu at 8.2 degree.

The Met department said that it will take another 24 hours for the western disturbance that caused the weather to alter to subside.
