SC confirms interim bail of Sadhu Yadav
The SC confirmed the interim bail granted to Sadhu Yadav in connection with an assault case registered against him.

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday confirmed the interim bail granted to Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MP Sadhu Yadav in connection with an assault case registered against him at Gopalganj district.

Sadhu Yadav, who is the brother-in-law of Railway Minister Lalu Prasad, had approached the apex Court against the verdict of the Patna High Court rejecting his anticipatory bail plea in the case.

A Bench headed by Justice B P Singh confirmed the interim bail after a brief hearing during which it was told that the case against the MP was not of a heinous nature.

Senior advocate Nagender Rai, appearing for Sadhu, said it was a minor case and not a crime of heinous nature like murder, dacoity or looting.

Sadhu, a Lok Sabha member from Gopalganj, is accused of assaulting Dinesh Chandra Sah, a candidate, who contested for the post of chief of Phulwari block development committee in the district, against RJD Chief's sister-in-law Kunti Devi.

A local court in Gopalganj has declared Sadhu as a proclaimed offender in the case and had ordered attachment of his properties.
