Trinamool has understanding with BJP, says Buddhadeb
Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee charged his successor Mamata Banerjee with using money and muscle power to stifle people's voices.

Kolkata: Attacking the Mamata Banerjee government, veteran CPI-M leader Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee Sunday accused the ruling Trinamool Congress of having a tacit understanding with the BJP for the upcoming general elections.

The former chief minister also charged his successor Banerjee with using money and muscle power to stifle people's voices.

"Law and order has been steadily deteriorating, woman are getting abducted and killed and this government is using money and muscle power to stifle the voices that protest," said the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) leader at a rally in Chinsurah of Hooghly district.

Claiming that the Trinamool had an "undisclosed" understanding with Bharatiya Janata Party prime ministerial nominee Narendra Modi, Bhattacharjee said: "Holding Trinamool's hands the BJP wants to spread its wings in Bengal, but we cannot allow that."

He also rubbished the state government's claims of making rapid strides in the sphere of development and accused the regime of wasting money on organising festivals and other events.

"This government is being run like a club. Money meant for building schools and hospitals are being utilized to give donations to clubs and organise festivals. Instead of indulging in festivals, the government should focus on development," said Bhattacharjee.

He also iterated his party's demand for a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation into the Saradha chit scam- the state's biggest financial scandal.
