UP Cong chief meets Sonia, offers resignation
Earlier, Rita Bahuguna Joshi had reportedly alleged sabotage to the party from local Congress leaders.

New Delhi: After facing a massive defeat in the 2012 Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections, state Congress chief Rita Bahuguna Joshi on Friday met party president Sonia Gandhi and tendered her resignation, taking the responsibility for the poor show.

Speaking to mediapersons after her meeting with the Congress president, Joshi said that Sonia had kept her resignation and would decide in due course on it.

Joshi told Sonia that the performance of the party in the state elections was unfortunate.

In reference to the infighting within the Congress in Uttar Pradesh, Joshi said, "It is not good to fight with each other."

Earlier, Joshi had reportedly alleged sabotage to the party from local Congress leaders, after MP Sanjay Singh complained that he was not given a chance to campaign during the Assembly elections.

Meanwhile, reports have suggested that Sonia is likely to reshuffle the party leadership in UP.
