Patna: Reacting to the JD(U)’s demands to come clean on corruption charges or resign, Bihar Deputy Chief Minsiter Tejashwi Yadav on Monday termed it as a non-issue.
"My resignation is not an issue. This is a fabrication by the media. I have made public my stand on it many times,” he said.
Tejashwi’s comments gave the JD(U) further ammunition to get him sacked as Bihar CM Nitish Kumar’s deputy.
“CM Nitish Kumar should snap ties with the RJD immediately as continuing the alliance is denting his image,” said MLA Shyam Bihari Singh after voting in the Presidential elections.
RJD chief and Tejashwi’s father Lalu Prasad Yadav on Saturday had dug his heels in and proclaimed that nobody from his party would resign from Nitish’s cabinet.
If sources close to Nitish Kumar are to be believed, the CM would take a decision on Tejashwi after the Presidential elections.
Meanwhile, the Congress, ruling Mahagathbandhan’s third partner, is trying to play the role of peacemaker. State Congress President and education minister, Ashok Chaudhary, has been regularly visiting the Yadav household.
Congress leaders admit that the party wants a solution to the problem, as a break-up of the alliance would be a huge setback for secular forces.
