The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has decided to go for a massive campaigning in West Bengal in the coming days ahead of the crucial Assembly elections. The party’s floor managers are currently busy in finalising the campaign schedule.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in whose name the saffron camp will fight this bitterly fought election against the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress, will lead the campaign with a whopping 18 to 20 rallies with special focus in the southern part of the state.

Sources told CNN News18 that BJP national president JP Nadda and Union Home Minister Amit Shah will literally camp in the eastern state during the eight-phase election. Both the senior leaders will hold about 30 rallies each, besides micromanaging the entire election. Party sources also said that Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will be campaigning in Bengal for 10 days.

Star campaigner and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will also take part in canvassing for seven to 10 days. Bengali-speaking Union Minister Smriti Irani will also address gatherings in the state for at least seven days.

Besides, chief ministers of BJP-ruled states like Madhya Pradesh’s Shivraj Singh Chauhan and Gujarat’s Vijay Rupani would also reach out to voters in Bengal for a significant period of time. Sources said at least 1,500 big and small rallies will be organised by the BJP ahead of the election.

The party has already deployed the services of seven central ministers, including Prahlad Singh Patel, Sanjeev Balyan, Mansukh Mandaviya and Nityanand Rai, UP Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya and Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra. This apart, 109 MPs will be take charge of 109 seats where the party is weak.
