New Delhi: Google has launched a beta version of its Voice Access service that would allow users to operate their smartphones using nothing but only voice.

The quiet rollout of the version means certain users could say things like 'go home', 'scroll down,' or 'open Chrome' to execute related functions, explains Google.

It also allows users to say numbers instead of naming apps to avoid potential confusion over pronunciation.

The app is aimed at making the Android experience smoother for the disabled or even in some everyday situations like driving or cooking when a person might not be able to use the phone. The Voice Access beta version is Google's latest effort at building accessible technology.

Under the beta mode, the number of compatible apps is limited and a public rollout is expected in near future.
