A new artificial intelligence-powered chat bot called Tay.ai is helping researchers learn more about humans' ability to converse, reports Tech Crunch.
Microsoft unveiled the bot, which uses various applications such as Twitter, Kik and GroupMe to assess conversation and social interaction of 18 to 24 year olds.
Users can engage in conversation with Tay - as it is known for short - as well as ask a joke, play games and tell stories. The more users play with Tay, the more interactive it becomes.
Tay was put together by mining, modeling and filtering anonymous data, and interactions are meant to be fun - Microsoft employed improvisational comedians to help develop the content.
"Tay is an artificial intelligent chat bot developed by Microsoft's Technology and Research and Bing teams to experiment with and conduct research on conversational understanding. Tay is designed to engage and entertain people where they connect with each other online through casual and playful conversation. The more you chat with Tay the smarter she gets, so the experience can be more personalized for you," explains Microsoft.
