Netflix To Stop Working On Some Older Apple Devices? Here’s What We Can Tell
Netflix works on all platforms but adding new features means the older devices won't be getting frequent updates as every one of them.

Netflix is pulling the plug on some of the older Apple devices and the first step of its development comes by halting updates for these devices. If you are using an Apple iPhone or an iPad that is running on iOS 16 version and will not be upgradeable to the latest versions, it is time to dump the device and get a new one.

Netflix iOS Support Ending: What We Know

Apple will be releasing iOS 18 update this week and going by the company’s effective software cycle, iOS 16 is now 2 years old, which means very few devices will be running on the version. So, if you have devices like the iPhone X, iPhone Xs, or even the iPhone 8, we suggest you go for an upgrade.

Netflix’s decision might seem hurried but it allows the platform to focus on devices that will get the latest features and security updates.

The fact that Apple will not be providing further updates for iOS 16 means third-party apps can also reduce their efforts, which explains the reason why the update cycle for devices like the iPhone X and iPad 5 ends from this month onwards. The streaming app will work on these devices but the fact that Netflix cannot guarantee future updates, unless it really needs to, means the end is nigh.

WhatsApp is another popular platform that makes these changes regularly. In fact, we often see stories highlighting the older devices that the messaging app will not work on after a certain period. iPhones are known for their robust security levels but even Apple needs a bigger room to accommodate the newer ones, like it has to do with the iPhone 16 series from this month onwards.
