The Redmi K40 series has been made available for pre-orders in China and will go on sale starting March 4.

Xiaomi sub-brand Redmi has finally launched its Redmi K40 series of flagship smartphones. The Redmi K40, Redmi K40 Pro, and the Redmi K40 Pro+ have been launched only in China for now, and were launched at a virtual event in China on Thursday. Out of the three smartphones, the Redmi K40 is powered by Qualcomm?s Snapdragon 870 SoC and the Redmi K40 Pro and Redmi K40 Pro+ are powered by Qualcomm?s Snapdragon 888 chipset. All the three smartphones from the Redmi K40 series feature a 120Hz AMOLED display and have been launched alongside the RedmiBook Pro 14 and RedmiBook Pro 15 laptops as well as the Redmi AirDots 3 truly wireless earbuds.

The Redmi K40 has been priced at CNY 1,999 (roughly Rs 22,500) onwards for the 6GB RAM + 128GB storage variant, the 8GB RAM + 128GB storage variant has been priced at CNY 2,199 (roughly Rs 24,700), and the 8GB RAM + 256GB storage variant has been priced at CNY 2,499 (roughly Rs 28,000). The top-end 12GB RAM + 256GB storage variant has been priced at CNY 2,699 (roughly Rs 30,400). The smartphone has been launched in three colour options ? Dreamland, Icy White, and Glossy Black. The Redmi K40 Pro, on the other hand, starts at a price of CNY 2,799 (roughly Rs 31,500) for the base 6GB RAM + 128GB storage variant, the 8GB RAM + 128GB storage variant has been priced at CNY 2,999 (roughly Rs 33,800), and the 8GB RAM + 256GB storage variant has been priced at CNY 3,299 (roughly Rs 37,000). The Redmi K40 Pro+, on the other hand, has been priced at CNY 3,699 (roughly Rs 41,600) for the sole 12GB RAM + 256GB storage variant. The Redmi K40 series has been made available for pre-orders in China, and the sales will begin on March 4.

The Redmi K40 comes with a 6.67-inch full-HD+ E4 AMOLED display with 1,300 nits of peak brightness, 120Hz refresh rate, and a 360Hz touch sampling rate. The aspect ratio on the display is 20:9. The smartphone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 chipset, paired with up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. It is backed by a 4,520mAh battery. In terms of camera, the Redmi K40 comes with a triple rear camera setup that includes a 48-megapixel Sony IMX582 primary shooter, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide angle lens, and a 5-megapixel tertiary sensor with a macro lens. Up front, the Redmi K40 carries a 20-megapixel selfie shooter.

The Redmi K40 Pro also sports a 6.67-inch full-HD+ E4 AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 360Hz touch sampling rate. The Redmi K40 is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset paired with up to 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The battery on the Redmi K40 Pro is a 4,520mAh unit and supports 33W fast charging. In terms of camera, the Redmi K40 Pro also comes with a triple rear camera setup that includes a 64-megapixel Sony IMX686 primary shooter, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide angle lens, and a 5-megapixel tertiary sensor.

The top-of-the-line Redmi K40 Pro+ shares the same hardware as the Redmi K40 Pro with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset and the 6.67-inch display, among other things. The Redmi K40 Pro+, however, comes with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The camera is where the main difference lies. The Redmi K40 Pro+ comes with a 108-megapixel Samsung HM2 primary shooter instead of the 64-megapixel Sony IMX686 chipset on the Redmi K40 Pro. Rest of the camera module is also same as the Redmi K40.
